The Oral Roberts University women’s golf team finished in 16th place out of 20 teams at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, held April 7-8 in Maricopa, Arizona.
The tournament took place at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes, a par-72 course measuring 6,212 yards. Over three rounds, the average score for all players was 75.42. The Golden Eagles recorded scores of 302, 299, and 300 to finish the event at a combined total of 37 over par.
Iowa State secured first place with a team score of 26 under par. Nichakorn Pinprayoon won the individual title by finishing at 17 under par after rounds of 65, 69, and another impressive round of 65.
Jayla Kucy led Oral Roberts individually with rounds of 76, a low-round-of-the-week for ORU at two-under-par (70), and then a final round of 77 to tie for the number-49 spot overall at seven over par. Lydia Swan followed closely behind with scores of two rounds at 76 and one round at an improved score of 73 to finish nine over par and tied for position number-55. Avery Blake posted scores of one-under-par (71), then carded higher rounds (79 and then a closing round of +4 or better) to end up tied for number-63.
Anna Swan completed her tournament in tie for position number-99 after recording rounds totaling +22. Khloe Jones did not finish the event.
Looking ahead, Oral Roberts will return to Arizona later this month to compete in the Summit League Championships from April 26-28 in Mesa.
