The Connors State College Cowboys men's basketball team has been picked to win the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference in the 2022-23 OCAC Men's Basketball Coaches Preseason Poll, announced by the league on Friday.
The Cowboys finished tied for second last season, and will have five returning players off last year's team that won the Region 2 Tournament Championship, and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament.
This marks the 1st time that the Cowboys have been picked to win the OCAC since the 2018-2019 season in which the cowboys finished second in the regular season.
Following closely behind the Cowboys to win the OCAC is Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Seminole State College was picked to finish third, after coming off a Semifinal appearance last year in the Region 2 Tournament.
Northern Oklahoma College- Enid was picked to finish fourth, while Redlands Community College was picked to finish fifth. Northern Oklahoma College- Enid made it to the Championship Game for the second consecutive season of the Region 2 Tournament, while Redlands Community College made it to the Quarterfinals.
Back to Back Defending Regular Season Champion, Northern Oklahoma College- Tonkawa was picked sixth, while Western Oklahoma State College was picked seventh.
Murray State College and Eastern Oklahoma College were both picked eighth and ninth respectively on Friday by the league's coaches.
The Cowboys open the season on November 1st at 7:00 pm inside Melvin Self Field-House against Arkansas Tech to begin a two-game homestand to start the year.
